4 Drawer Easel Boxes

I had purchased the Matchbox Stampin' Up! Bigz Xl Die and thought it would be great to make all different kinds of projects with it.  The 4 drawer box was one of the projects I wanted to tackle.  I made the 4 drawer box and added an easel card to sit on top of it.  OMGosh! I couldn't believe I actually completed these.  I've been working on them for weeks now and finally got myself to finish them up.  Here's the box using the die.

I used this Pure Innocence image and decided to make it fun and cheerful.  I luv the oranges and how it turned out!

Now, I saw another 4 drawer box and it required no diecuts.  My La-La Land sister, Kristine, did a great tutorial on how she made her box, origami style.  I thought it would be neat to compare the 2 so I set off to make one using this tutorial, click {HERE} to see Kristine's instructions.

I used a Bugaboo Stamps image that my gf Joy U. printed out for me!  Thanks Joy!  She's a cutie! Doesn't this box look similar to the first one using the die?  Here's a picture of the 2 of them side by side.

See any difference?  Here's a look at what the individual drawer looks like.

Now you can see the difference.  The origami style makes a square-ish box and the height is a little over an inch while the Matchbox die creates a more rectangular box and the height measures about 3/4 inch.

I want to keep one of them as a sample for myself, but my sweet girls are on their way to their new homes.  I know they will be well cared for.  With that, I have to make another one just for me!  :)

La-La Land's Weekly Wednesday Challenge 36 - Altered Embellishments

La-La Land Crafts has another challenge for you.  Our hostess, MAUREEN, challenges you to alter an embellishment on your project.  Here's what I came up with:

Can you see what I did?  Look closely . . . Okay, maybe I have to explain how I altered my embellishments.  I used Easter Dress Rosie for my image on this card.  I cut her out with my Circle Nestie.  Instead of using my Scallop Nesties, I used my Prima Flowers to create the scallops.  Here's the backside of the cut out image.

I tried to alter one more embellishment in my project.

I saw this garland at the local craft store, Ben Franklin. I was drawn to the garland for it's vibrant color and uniqueness. Yes, I'm always on the look out on how I could use different items in my crafts.  Well, I took the back piece off and used the straw flower with the button for accent.  I saved the straw and ribbon to wrap around the card.  And there you go . . . my altered embellies!  :)

If you're up to the challenge, come join us!  Since Maureen used Birthday Cake Maya on her card, you can pick her up at the Online Store for 20% off only for this week of the challenge!

Good Times & a Mini Note Purse . . .

Hi all!  I'm back . . . at least for now.  :)  I've been so bad about posting and sharing these days, the mojo's left me and hasn't come back.  I did craft a little - - - it's taking me a course of days to finish one thing.  I can't seem to stay on track.  Hopefully, I'll be back to my "normal" self.

A couple of weeks ago, I had the opportunity of crafting, talking-story, eating, and laughing with some amazing women at Joy U.'s house.  I received some beautiful RAKS, but it totally slipped my mind in taking pictures of them.  {You see how "abnormal" I've been?}  However, I was able to muster up some energy and make a Mini Note Purse here at home.

I did a Make 'N Take of this purse with these ladies!  If you want the tutorial, click {HERE}.  I also wanted to show you a mini, mini purse that Joy U. made for me.  She used a 9x9 piece of CS where my purse took a 12x12.  She's so clever in manipulating the measurements & Joy added a sectional in the middle of the purse!  Here's the comparison of the purses in the 2 sizes.

I'll be back tomorrow for sure . . . and I have some other projects I'll be sharing.  Yes, I finally completed some projects that has been laying around on my workspace.  I totally needed to finish them so I can mail them out!  :) Ta-ta for now!

La-La Land Weekly Wednesday Challenge 35 - Shabby Chic

Are you ready for another challenge?  Our proud owner, IRINA,  is the hostess for this weeks challenge which is to create a project in Shabby Chic fashion.  Boy, at first I had no clue and thought this was going to be a real challenge, but I soon realized that it wasn't so bad after all (thanks Jane for the tips)!  I just used a lot of soft pinks, flowers, & distressed all the edges of my papers!

Here's my card using Lala with Heart.  She's one of my favorites right now.  I hope you can see it . . . I used Diamond Glaze over the heart that Lala is holding.

Come play with us over at La-La Land Crafts!   And guess what?  Princess Lala, one of the new April release, will be 20% off only for the week of this challenge!  So run on over to the Online Store to pick her up!

I'm entering my card in a challenge over at Little C's Challenge - An Abundance of Flowers.

I'm hosting . . . MONDAY MANIA at Club Anya & Friends!

Woohoo!  I can finally scream that!  OMGosh, I received an email from none other than the Queen of Altering and the proud creator of the Sweet November Stamps line, Amy Young.  She asked me if I wanted to host a Monday Mania Challenge over at Club Anya & Friends.  Yawza . . . what an honor!  My challenge is to come up with a gift set.  It must include a 3D item and an accompanying card.

Here is a Shadow Box Card using the Dahlia nestie to suspend this sweetheart.  Recognize her?  Ain't she just STELLA-r!!!!  Ain't she just GLAMOUR-ous?

Here is a Double Shaker picture frame standing on the desk drawer set.  I learned how to make this Double Shaker from Teri over at big Ideas From A Little Girl.  Thanks Teri!  You're amazing!  If you wanna check out her tutorial on making the Double Shaker, click {HERE} for Tutorial Part 1 & {HERE} for Tutorial Part 2.

While thinking of a 3D project, I had a lightbulb moment.  I purchased the Sizzix Bigz Die Cut Box #3, but never used it.  Then it dawned on me that I could actually make some drawers with this.  Where I wanted a drawer to be, I folded the flaps inward and adhered leaving a wide open space for a drawer pull.  I fiddled around with the measurements for the large and small drawer pulls -- they were some funky measurements, but it works!  :)  I'll try to do another post with the measurements later . . .

Here's the view of the desk drawer with everything open.  I kept the top left section as is and added a sectional piece at the center.  The cover can open and close easily with the pearl brad securing the flap. Wanna know the size of this baby?  It measures approximately 4-1/2 (W) x 5 (H) x 9-1/2 (L).  Now that's a whopper!  :)

Thank you for sticking with me through this long post.  I hope you enjoyed my 3D project as much as I enjoyed putting it together.  Now, run over to Club Anya & Friends and play in my challenge!  I know that there will be amazing projects that will be shared.  I would luv to see what you come up with!

Here's what I created.  I did a Shadow Box Card measuring 5 x 7.  This was my first time inking up Dee Dee and I was thrilled at how she turned out!  The idea to suspend Dee Dee came from the Tent Card.  I just thought it would be kind of neat to use 2 different size Blossom nesties to help suspend Dee Dee.  The flowers were cut using the Dahlia nestability -- thanks Kim for the idea!  :)  And of course, I've distressed EVERYTHING with Tim Holtz Distress Ink!

Here's the top view . . .

And there's Dee Dee up close . . . I hope you can see all her teeny  tiny curls in her hair!

So, there we go!  Aren't you pumped up?  Get started and let's see what you create!  Don't forget to check out all the other Creative Team members cards!  Have a great weekend!

Post Easter . . .

Well, I hope your Easter Sunday was one filled with fun and good food!  Since it was raining practically all day in my area, the egg hunt was done indoors and with some eggs hidden in the carport.  We all have to adapt to the weather or any situation . . . that's life!  Anyway, I have a few more Easter goodies I wanted to share with you.  This one comes from Charlotte.  She doesn't have a blog, but luvs to visit other blogs including mine!  :)  Through emails, Charlotte and I discovered that we only blocks away from each other.  She was so sweet as to drop these goodies off at my home.   Thank you, thank you so much Charlotte!  My DD luvs those HK stickers!

These treats were given by Brenda of  sweet as a gumdrop.  You really need to visit her blog!  She does wonders with punches!  :)  I was finally able to meet Brenda  . . .  boy, it felt like I've known her for years!  Can you believe we've only been "friends" through blogging?   I'm blessed to have her in my blog life!  :)  She gave the tub full of goodies to my kids along with some children's books.  So sweet!

And this gift bag and matching card set was for me!  Luv these Brenda!  It'll be hard for me to use them since I cherish your projects!

Thank you ladies!  I really appreciate your thoughtfulness and kindness!  Lastly, I'd like to thank you, my fellow blogging friends, for such an amazing JOURNEY!!!
