La-La Land's Weekly Wednesday Challenge 45 - Try Something New

Yep, it's my weekly posting for La-La Land's Weekly Wednesday Challenge.  Our hostess, KIM, has challenged us, and that means you too, to TRY SOMETHING NEW.  I don't know about you, but I haven't tried everything when it comes to crafting.  So, I tackled a technique that I haven't done before and wanted to try . . . MASKING.

Some of you may be more than familiar with how to mask and some may not.  Masking is a way to stamp an image right behind another image by using a "mask".  Here is my "mask" that I stamped and cut out.  I took the head of Bubble Lala and the body of Fairy Lala and put them together.  {{I used this mask before taking this picture, thus, the frills on Lala's hair.}}

I stamped the head of Bubble Lala on Neenah CS and then stamped the body of Fairy Lala so that the head and neck would connect.   I then used the mask that I made previously and placed it directly on top of the image I just stamped.  Finally, I inked up Fairy Lala and stamped her as close to the first image so that they were side by side.  Once that was done, I lifted the mask and voila . . . my 2 images masked together, one in front and one behind!  Here's my card.

A close-up  . . .

This is the inside of the card . . .

There you have it . . . I tried something new!  Come join us 'cause I know there is a technique or style you haven't tried.

Hop on over to the Online Store and you can find Banjo Maya on sale for 20% off only for the week of this challenge!  Thanks for stopping in peeps!

Da, da, da-da . . . Da, da, da-da . . .

Hey there bloggers!  I'm missing y'all and I know I'm missing out on some great projects and cards you've worked on to.  When I get a chance, I'll be sure to check out your blogs, but in the meantime, life's been hectic and crazy in our household.  In the madness, I was able to make a quickie card for my husband's cousin who got married this Thursday.

I hope you can see the embossing of the groom and bride on this card.  If not, it's there I promise.  I tried another white card -- in fact, it's more like cream color.

We've had appointments earlier this week to see the doctor and dentists.  Yippie, the kids have no cavities!  :)  I had met my girlfriend and her kids at the local mall . . . there is a dinosaur exhibit and a mini train ride.  The kids enjoyed that!  We took the monorail over to the other end of the mall and had some yummy Stone Cold ice-cream!  :)

There was a dinner that my MIL threw for the bride and groom at our home.  The bride, who is formerly from Japan, had her family join us . . . it was a bridging of 2 cultures.  Then the next day was the wedding.  Beautiful!

And today, I celebrate my 11th wedding anniversary!  Hubby and I are out to dinner for that!  Can't wait to grow older with him!  And finally, on Monday, we have my grandmother's funeral.  She will be laid to rest with no more suffering.  She was 92.

Sorry to bombard you with my long post.  I'm almost venting it all out . . . in fact, I am!  That's it for me now and I'll be back for my normal post on Tuesday night for La-La Land Crafts Blog.  Then till then . . . ta-ta!

La-La Land's Weekly Wednesday Challenge - White on White Card

Yep, it's a Weekly Wednesday Challenge at La-La Land Crafts Blog.  Come join in on the fun!  Our hostess, JANE, has a great challenge for ya . . . create an all white card!  Only your stamped/digi image can be colored, but everything else WHITE!  :)

Here's my take on the challenge and I actually created 2 cards.  This was my first attempt at an all white card so I wasn't so sure how it would turn out.  My first card I tried to incorporate some ivory and whites.

I don't know . . . seemed like the ivory background that I embossed with my Tim Holtz embossing folder looked somewhat yellowish and not the look I was going for.  So . . . I made another one.

Ok, better!  Not so yellowish as the first card huh?  But look . . . I colored Porsha in a darker skin tone and paper pieced her dress.  Well, there it is . . . my white cards!

Hey, if you hop on over to the Online Store, you can get Happy Maya for 20% off only for the week of this challenge.  :)

Great deal!  Thanks for stopping by!

Oh Baby, Baby!

Hey there people!  Just wanted to share the latest on my little one . . . yes, the little one that has zapped me out of my energy.  In a good way though.  :)  I recently went for my 2nd integrated screening/ultrasound - - this doctor specializes in the early detection of birth defects or problems that may occur in the pregnancy.  Since my first pregnancy, I've seen this doctor.  I'm pretty much considered high risk probably because of concerning test results in the past, my age, history of gestational diabetes, and infertility issues.  The cool thing about the screening is that I get an extensive check-up & we get to see the baby up close.  Let me tell you, the technology from 5 years ago till now has improved so much.  We have 4D images of my 2 children, but now the doctor is able to capture short 3 -15 second movie clips of the baby moving.  AMAZING!  I would've added the clips to this post, but I can't edit out private information . . . like my name!  :)  So, I'll just keep those clips for my family's eyes only.  However, I will share these pics with you!

1. This is the profile picture of Baby #3!

2.  Here is the front view of the face.  Can you see the left eye?  You can actually see the lens!  Reminds me of the TERMINATOR!  :)

3.  Ain't this cool!  A 4D image . . . see, even baby wants to be anonymous like his mother!  Baby is covering the eyes and sitting with its legs crossed.

4.  Ok, Baby is giving you a peek of its facial features.

5.  And the big reveal . . . It's a BOY!  See the arrows pointing to his "third" limb?  :)  The long rope like image is the umbilical cord.

The ultrasound technician and the doctor were able to see everything and get good pictures because this little guy moved around so much.  They both said, "He's very active!"  Oh oh!  Is that something I should worry about?  Bracing myself for an active, energetic child!  :)  Hey, maybe that's why I'm so tired all the time . . . he's using up all my energy!  Hopefully, this little guy will give his mommy a break to have some creative juices.  :)  That's all I have to share today.  Thanks for stopping by and staying with me on this long post!

Jade is a SHAKIN' and a RATTLIN'!

Oh my, oh my!  Can you believe it?  I actually made something without forcing myself to craft!  {{Tapping myself on the back . . . hee, hee!  ;)}}

I'm kinda intrigued by WS Jade.  Not sure why . . . maybe because she looks a little Asian and I can relate to her.  I recently made an Easel Shaker Card with Bikini Honey.  I had so much fun with that one - - thought I'd make another.

Since Jade has a star on her shirt, I went ahead and punched out some stars in 2 shades of purple and added them into the shaker part with some microbeads and dew drops.

This sentiment is from one of my Close To My Heart kits.  It is fitting for the person I'm sending this card to.  :)  Well, that's it for me!  If you like Jade and all her friends,  you can run your fingers to Tamiko's!  Joy has a selection of TGF stamps that you can purchase!

La-La Land's Weekly Wednesday Challenge 43 - Emboss It!

Wednesday is here and it's La-La Land's Weekly Wednesday Challenge!  Our hostess for this challenge is MAUREEN.  She wants us to create a card and EMBOSS IT!  Yes, you can take out those Cuttlebug embossing folders or that embossing powder and heat gun.  Emboss away to your hearts desire!

I totally had fun with this challenge . . . boy, I used no DP and embossed plain colored CS with my embossing folders.

If you take a closer look, I used my Hero Arts Cling Dots Stamp.  Clear embossing powder was added and I heated up that baby with my heat gun.  I chose Tim Holtz Mustand Seed Distress Ink to create the background behind Sunflower Rosie.  I couldn't stop there - - the sentiment was also blasted by some heat!  Pearls and sunflowers were placed to give the card a finishing touch.

Now it's your turn!  Come join us in the challenge.  You will be able to purchase Beach Lala at 20% off only for the week of this challenge.  Other stamps and digi stamps can also be purchased at the Online Store.

Tamiko's Challenge #4 - A Summer Shaker!

Are you ready for another Tamiko's challenge?  Let's go!  Joy, of Tamiko's, challenges you to create a shaker card in a summer theme.  A shaker?  What's that?  Well, check out Beate Johns' simple tutorial on how to make a shaker card.  Click {HERE}.  If you feel the need to get ambitious, try the double shaker card.  Teri, of big Ideas From A Little Girl, has a 2 part tutorial on how to make it.  Click {HERE} for Part 1 & {HERE} for Part 2.

Sugar, Oh Honey, Honey . . . Yep, I used Bikini Honey for my shaker card (Thanks Shirley for her!).  In fact, I turned this shaker into an easel card.

You likey?  :)  Honey is chillin' on the sand, soaking up the sun!  She's getting a bit dark, but thankfully, Honey has applied her SPF 30 sunscreen.

Here's a closer look . . .

I Diamond Glazed her sunglasses and tore a piece of DP to create the sand on which she is sitting on.   Some assorted beads and microbeads in clear, whites, and yellows were added for the shaker effect.

Come join in on the summer fun!  The winner will receive this Honey the Hottie!  :)  You can purchase Honey and some of her buddies at the Tamiko's Online Store.  With a purchase of $25 or more, shipping will be FREE (only valid in the USA)!!  Click {HERE} to see the full details of the challenge.

A Box and Some HONEY . . .

Hey Bloggers!  OMGosh, it's been almost a week since my last post . . . sounds like a confession or something.  Well, the pregnancy is still affecting my energy level, but I had to share "a BOX and some HONEY".  I just haven't gotten around to posting so I'm giving it to ya here!  :)

My gf, Joy, sent me the cutest Gate Fold Box with a special surprise inside it.  Here she used Cheeky Beauty.  I luv how Joy colored her and drew in those fishnet stockings.  :)

When I opened up the box, guess what was inside?

Joy gifted me with some of her gorgeous flowers from her 10 acre garden . . . I swear Joy has a massive garden!  She uses a variety of flowers on all her cards and 3D projects!  I always admire them from afar!  Thanks so much dear friend!  You are the BEST!

Here's a Shaker Card Joy also sent using Bikini Honey.  The Honey stamp along side the card was sent to me by my dear friend Shirley.  She was giving this sweetie away and I was fortunate enough to win her!  Thank you so much Shirley!  :)  I had the pleasure of already inking her up . . . stay tuned 'cause I'll be showing you a card I made featuring this HOTTIE!

I am truly appreciative of the friendships I've made through blogging.  Thanks ladies, (((HUGS))) to ya both!  :)

La La Land's Weekly Wednesday Challenge 42 - Blues

Hey bloggers!  Yes, it's time for La-La Land's Weekly Wednesday Challenge.  This week's challenge is brought to us by my wonderful friend, LISA.  She challenges you to create a card in BLUES.   I like the color blue, but I hardly ever make cards with the focus being blue so this was quite a challenge for me.  You be the judge here . . .

My card is a tent card using none other than Lala on a Swing.  She is one of the new stamps in La La Land's Summer Release.  You can check her out at the Online Store.  Once again, I didn't have the right flowers to go with this card so I colored my teeny white Prima flowers in just the right shades of blue.

Here's a closer look . . . I've suspended Lala on her swing using a jump ring.  Don't you think she's quite the happy camper to be free in her La La Land of blues?  :)  Well, you'll be able to grab a deal at the Online Store.  Since Lisa is using Garden Rosie, you can purchase her for 20% off only for the week of this challenge.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you will join us for this challenge!

Happy Birthday JANE!!!

Just wanted to send a shout out to one of our sweetest La-La Sister, JANE.  Today is her birthday and the rest of the La-La Land Design Team had put a special surprise for her.  Go check it out {HERE}!

For Jane's easel birthday card, I use Princess Lala.  I used an origami paper and thought it was perfect for Jane.  So, I went with the reds, royal blues, and gold!  :)

Here's a closer look at the sakura or cherry blossoms in red and gold.

Jane, wishing you a blessed and enjoyable birthday!  HUGE, HUGE (((HUGS))) 2 U!
