One Cute Critter B-day Card . . .

Hey all!  Hope you're having a great day!

My niece celebrated her 1st birthday on Sunday and I created this card for her.  Do you see that cute critter, well, the bear?  My sweet friend Brenda cut some out for me using her Create A Critter cartridge.  I'm glad she mailed me some because I was scrambling to make a card at the last minute and I pulled out one of these cuties.  Thanks Bren!  You are a lifesaver!

I finally got my new Spellbinders dies and couldn't wait to use them!  The background was embossed with Sizzix Flowers embossing folder and cut with the Labels Nineteen die.  The sentiment is from Lili of the Valley and propped on my new Floral Doily Motifs die.  I'm luvn these new dies!

That's it for me today, but be sure to come back!  Boy, this week is a jam packed week and I'm SOOOOO EXCITED TO SHARE WHAT'S BEEN HAPPENING BEHIND THE SCENES!  Sorry for the yelling, but I can't contain my excitement!  :)

Wonderful Things . . .

Hello people!  Boy, has life been nuts around here!  My son had Spring Break last week -- in the midst of trying to get things done during that time, he got sick.  Then, my hubby got sick . . . and what do you know?  I got sick over the weekend.  Our Spring Break wasn't so fun, just trying to recover.  Now, my poor baby is sick.  Praying everyone stays healthy!  :)

On to my post.  Here is my card for La-La Land Crafts.  Meet Dress Up Marci.  She is one of 3 new images that's been released.  You can find her {HERE} for purchase.

I could totally picture myself trying to dress up like my mom as a youngster.  I used to try on her heels and walk around the house like a grown-up.  Oh, the wonderful things in life!  I paper pieced her and used my copics to create shadows on her hat and dress.

Here's a closer look.

Thanks for stoppin' in!  I have more in store for you next week!  I've been busy, busy, busy creating . . . stay tuned if you wanna know what's stirring in my pot.  No, it's not chicken noodle soup for our colds!  :)  It's something much more delicious!

Hey HOT STUFF!

It's Saturday and time for a La-La Land Crafts post.  I hope you have a hanky in hand to wipe away your sweat . . . some HOT STUFF is coming your way!  :)  It's Fireman Luka, one of  3 new images released this week!  You can get him in digi form {HERE}.  Don't worry, you will be able to get him in rubber real soon.

I jumped at the opportunity to create with this hunk because my hubby is a firefighter.  If you're not familiar with the Honolulu Fire Department's firetrucks, you'll be surprised that our trucks are YELLOW, not red.  As you can see, Fireman Luka is dressed just as a HFD firefighter would be dressed . . . blue shirt tucked inside his yellow turnouts.  He wears black boots and a black helmet.  Yes, the straps holding up his pants are red

I thought I'd create a little scene for him.  He's right on time to put that fire out!

Here's a close-up of Fireman Luka along with his trusted pal, Tuffy.  Check out his pants . . . I sponged some Tim Holtz Pumice Stone Distress Ink to create the BLACK SOOT from firefighting.  Too funny!  :)

That's it for me!  Thanks for visiting and have a great weekend!

SPICING Up Your Birthday!

Happy Saturday!  Before I get started with this post, I just want to offer a prayer to the people of Japan after the devastating earthquake followed by a massive tsunami.  I do have family that reside there and I'm happy to report that all are well.  Hawai`i was put on alert.  We were all bracing for what was to come and thankfully we're all okay.

Now, on to my card.  I used Sugar n' Spice Marci.  The moment I saw her, I think about {BIRTHDAYS}.  You can get her over at the La-La Land Crafts Online Store, {HERE}.  I punched out this cupcake border (EK Success) and added hearts to the cupcakes.  The hearts came from the Magnolia DooHickey Romantic Tag.  I just colored the hearts with my copic marker and added some Glossy Accents to give them a shiny appearance.

Here's the pull out tag with a sweet sentiment.

A closer look at Sugar n' Spice Marci!

Thanks for stoppin' by!  Have a great weekend!  :)

Play Time Collection Release Blog Hop!

La-La Land Crafts is excited to present our latest Marci and Luka stamps in RUBBER! You can now get your favorite new stamps from the Play Time Collection, along with our newest family member Ally. You can visit the La-La Land Crafts Online Store to order your new stamps now.

I created a card using Sitting Marci.  Can you tell I tried to go with a vintage look?  Hopefully I pulled it off and if not, oh well.  Sitting Marci was so fun & easy to color up . . . I went a bit crazy with her hair.

The design team has created amazing cards using the images from this Play Time Collection release.  The hop starts on the La-La Land Crafts Blog, so if you didn't arrive from Lisa's blog, head on back to the beginning so you don't miss any of the fun!

Your next stop is Kim D.!  Have fun hoppin'!

Thinking of You . . .

I am happy to announce that I am back at La La Land Crafts.  Funny, I've been on maternity leave since the birth of my son last November.  He's been keeping me pretty busy (along with my other 2 munchkins), but La La Land has never been out of my thoughts.  I couldn't wait to hop back on the team and start creating with such wonderful images of Marci and Luka.

Meet Fancy Dress Marci.  I just luv this sweet image and her dress reminds me of my childhood days.  The heart shaped doily frames Marci perfectly.  You'll never guess it . . . I actually cut out the insides of the doily.  The paper was too pretty to cover up.

Now here is the reason for my short term leave.  Ain't he the cutest thing you've ever laid eyes on?  :)  Ha, I'm just bias 'cause he's MINE, ALL MINE!  Asa is nearing 4 months and is growing up way too fast.  I just luv that smile!  He's always happy, content, and mellow . . . just the way I like it!

Thanks for stoppin' by!  Have a great weekend people!

Creating with Fun Foam

You're probably wondering, "What? Fun Foam?".  That was my reaction at first.  I had some Fun Foam that I normally use when making Shaker Cards.  Had absolutely no idea that you could cut Fun Foam with your dies (maybe I'm just an airhead, but never gave it any thought to use my dies).  Now imagine all the possibilities!

I decided to create a card using this technique for the Make It Monday #4: Creating with Fun Foam.  There is a video put together by Heather Nichols.  She demonstrates how you can use your dies to cut the Fun Foam, but better yet, you can use the cut Fun Foam as a stamp!  :)

Here's my creation.  I used the smallest die in the Delightful Doiles Collection to cut the Fun Foam and stamped the border across my cardstock.  With PTI's Fresh Snow, I inked up one of the stamp doily in the Delightful Doilies set.  Do you see the sparkly border?  I was bummed to have missed out on the Make It Monday #3: Glitter Strips with Scor-Tape.  So, I tried it here.  I cut the Fun Foam using one of the Limitless Layers 2 1/2 " Circle Collection, cut "C" die in the Doily Details Collection in Kraft CS, and used the Tag-its #1 set for the inside.

Dyed seam binding was added with a pearl to the Fun Foam.  Lastly, I sponged the edges with Fresh Snow.

What do you think?  It was fun and fast!  Nice to take a break from using my copics!  :)  That's it for me!  See you laters.

Wonderful, amazing friends . . .

Quicky post today.  Just wanted to share some birthday gifts that were sent to me by wonderful, amazing friends!

This is my DD!  Excuse the WILD hair!  I forgot to fix it up after her nap and didn't realize till I saw this picture how messy her hair was.  In any case, she's my sweetie!  :)  She, too, celebrated her b-day . . . DD luvs Hello Kitty so I go her some mini cakes/muffins.  The red velvet Hello Kitty muffin on the left was for her, the red velvet cake in the middle was for the adults (we each only got a bite full), and the chocolate Hello Kitty muffin was for my eldest son.  The random cupcakes were given by Grandma.

Enjoli was so sweet to have sent a little something for DD.  Thank you so much!

Well, another year older and hopefully another year wiser!  :)  Thank you soooo much my friends!  You really made my b-day special!  BIG HUGS TO U ALL!

Cute as a Button . . .

Hello bloggers!  I'm here to share a card using Cheeky Howdy!  Yee Haw!!!  Ain't she cute as a button?  Thought I'd enter her in Saturday Sketch Challenge over at Club Anya & Friends

I used the Button Boutique set and the coordinating dies from PTI for this card.  To give the buttons some shine, I added Glossy Accents and finished them off with floss.  I used the Banner Borders die to cut a piece of red felt for the border, tied some seam binding and added a couple more buttons, and voila!

Here's the sketch . . .

Want a closer view to see the shine on the buttons?

Thanks for stoppin' in!  I'll be back to share another card and I do have to share some great BRAKS from very special friends!
