Got Cake?

The title says it all.  My cousin's daughter got this cake for her birthday party.  I used the same papers for this cake as with her birthday card.  This cake took me about a week to complete and I didn't think I would finish in time.  I can no longer sit at my craft table for an extended amount of time to craft.  Just have my hands full with a new infant and caring for my other 2 children.

This inspiration came from seeing my dear friend's cake.  Kim is amazing at creating cards and 3D projects.  Check out her cake {HERE}.  While there, check out her whole blog!  She's so talented you won't be disappointed.

How did I create the slices of cake?  I bought a cake die from a local craft store, Stamps & Memories.  When I saw Kim's cake, I knew I had to use my die, at least once.  I'm so glad I did 'cause I really liked how the cake came out!

As a topper, I created this tealight cake.  You can find many tutorials on how to cover the tealight.  I just cut a strip of DP and used my Stampin' Up! Scallop punch.  Add some flowers and bling and voila!

Here's a slice of the cake.  I love how the die cuts the cover with a scalloped edge.  If you want a clean edge, then all you have to do is cut off the scallops.  Easy peasy!

I stuffed a bag of M&M's inside the slice of cake.  I'm so glad Valentine's is coming up . . . I was able to pick up these Valentine M&M's and the colors matched perfectly with the yummy papers!

Well, some of my aunties thought the cake was real until they took a closer look.  Then, no one wanted to take a favor home because if they did, the cake would be ruined.  I laughed . . . it's just paper!  Paper is replaceable, but my family is not!  I luv spending time with my family and luv making sweet memories!  :)  Have a great day!
